Etera is a responsible investor. In addition to financial factors, we take into consideration aspects related to good corporate practices and environmental and social responsibility.
Etera is committed to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI). Etera signed the UN Principles in 2010 and reported for the first time on its investments to the UN in 2012.
As defined in the UN Principles,
Etera is committed to:
- incorporating ESG issues into investment analyses and decision-making processes
- being an active owner and incorporating ESG issues into our ownership policy
- seeking appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest
- working together with others to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles
- reporting on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles
In 2012, Etera signed an agreement with GES Investments Services. GES audits Etera’s equity and fixed income portfolio twice a year and assesses the corporate responsibility of the companies in Etera’s portfolio. Etera is also a member of Finland’s Sustainable Investment Forum FINSIF and participates in the organisation’s meetings and seminars.
We follow the principles of our ownership policy
Etera’s investment operations abide by the ownership policy. In its exercise of ownership rights, Etera complies with the principles of loyalty, pro-activeness, transparency and fairness.
Active ownership is an essential part of responsibility. Etera actively takes part in the general meetings of those companies in which it has holdings. The company also focusses on what kinds of boards the companies have. This is especially apparent in the unlisted companies in which Etera has significant holdings.
Responsible construction and real estate investments
Etera promotes sustainable development and eco-efficiency in its real estate investments and is a member of Green Building Council Finland, which promotes sustainable construction. Etera uses LEED certification or other environmental certification in its office construction projects. Etera’s office building in Helsinki is a Green Office certified by the WWF. The company reports the results of its environmental programme annually to the WWF.
